African Travel, Inc., a luxury safari outfitter, has announced new personalized safari journeys for the LGBTQ+ community called Pride Safaris, set to debut in 2022. These journeys are created exclusively for the LGBTQ+ community and will have no more than 20 guests.

Each safari journey will feature Africa's wildlife and culture and will be customized by a dedicated safari team, many of whom are LGBTQ+, to each guest's interests and travel styles. Travellers will stay at personally-vetted lodges and camps that focus on inclusion and sensitivity. In addition, African Travel, Inc. is part of The Travel Corporation family of tour and river cruise companies, including Insight Vacations, and Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, and the safaris will include the TTC's sustainable MAKE TRAVEL MATTER experiences.

The first Pride Safari itinerary, the Southern Africa President’s Safari, is a 10-day departure in JUL 2022 that will explore South Africa, Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls.

The tour will be led by the President of African Travel, Inc., Sherwin Banda, who was recently featured as one of Robb Report’s 16 LGBTQ+ Visionaries in Luxury in 2021.

Banda is excited about African Travel’s focus on inclusivity and their new journey. “LGBTQ+ travel is personal for me, having grown up in Africa and lived through some of its most horrific times,” said Banda.

“Every one of our team members was either born in Africa, lived in Africa, or traveled to Africa multiple times, so when we say, ‘We Know Africa,’ you can depend on us to match the right Africa with the right client, like LGBTQ+ travelers.”

Highlights include meeting African penguins in Cape Town, spotting wildlife on a game drive or walking safari at Kapama Private Game Reserve, traversing the Zambezi River to see Victoria Falls, and more. Family-friendly accommodations are included.

"Traveling when I was single is different than traveling with my partner and now with my family,” Banda said. “I’m sharing how Africa has evolved, with the many wonders it has to offer for people of all ages and am very excited to invite other families to experience my homeland.”

Other Pride Safaris include South Africa's Natural Wonders, a 10-day journey visiting Cape Town, Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, Shamwari Game Reserve, and more; as well as Experience South Africa, an 11-day trip exploring Cape Town, Durban, and the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, among others.

African Travel Inc. has also compiled a list of other safari ideas to meet the different needs of various LGBTQ+ guests in its Pride Guide. The guide, which details the itineraries mentioned above, also offers other travel tips and is available to all using the link here.
