‘Ringing Off the Hook’: Travel Advisors See Surge in Demand as Border Restrictions Ease

Travel agencies in Atlantic Canada say pent-up travel demand is fueling its latest bookings now that the U.S. border has reopened. “CAA’s phones have been ringing off the hook. Our members have been very interested in booking future travel for the last 18 months,” said Steve Olmstead, CAA Atlantic’s public affairs director. Olmstead says that new travel news and health policies, such as requiring proof of vaccination for travel and eased entry requirements in the U.S., have bolstered travel confidence. Tiffany Chase, the public affairs director for the Halifax International Airport Authority, says that vaccination policies and eased restrictions are also boosting flight demand at YHZ.
