The federal budget, which will be released 28MAR, will include billions of savings in outsourcing and travel, the Globe and Mail is reporting. The government is trying to demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the 2023 budget after the pandemic added billions to the last several budgets. The government has been undertaking a series of studies on the growth of federal outsourcing, including the CAD$54-million ArriveCan app.
The proposed cuts would save CAD$7-billion over the first five years and $1.7-billion each year after that. The Globe did not confirm details about what kind of travel cuts the budget would entail.
