The Canadian boycott of US travel shows no signs of abating. In fact, American visitors are choosing to come to us...more than we're going to them. This is a significant reversal in the industry, and one worth tracking and dissecting.
In June and July of this year, Stats Canada data shows more American residents crossing into Canada than Canadians travelled to the US. likely due to a rise in border anxiety and the 'Trump Slump', as it's come to be known. Canadian return trips from the US by air were down 25.8% in July, and return car trips from the States by Canadians were down a whopping 36.9%, a steep decline from 2024.
Those numbers are slightly higher than they were in June, when Canadian return trips from the US by air were down 22.1% and trips by car were down 33.1%. Clearly, the seven-month old 'Elbows Up' movement is still going strong.
American's aren't the only travellers seeking out the beauty and diversity of Canada. In July of this year, non-resident arrivals to Canada by air increased 3.1% from July of 2024.

It is good to see statistics back up what we hear is happening and that Canadians are staying united standing up for our country.
