Toronto Pearson Expands YYZ Express Security Screening Reservation System

Toronto Pearson Airport via Twitter

Toronto Pearson revealed 17FEB via a tweet that it has expanded YYZ Express, the free program that launched last NOV that allows departing pax on select flights to book a security screening reservation in advance. The program was designed to help smooth traffic flow and reduce long security line ups, as Open Jaw reported.

According to the airport, it has expanded the program's hours of availability. The YYZ Express option had been available between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. at T1 and from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at T3.

With the new expansion, pax may now book a security screening reservation between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. in T1 and between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. in T3. Air travellers must still arrive within 15 minutes of their booked time slot.

The program still applies to the same selection of flights. YYZ Express is available only for domestic and international flight departures from T1 D gates, and T3 B and C gates. Flights to the U.S. are still excluded from the YYZ Express option.

Using YYZ Express, passengers can make an online reservation up to 72 hours before their flight by adding their flight information and the number of people in their party (up to 10 people). The system will display available booking times to choose from. Once a booking time is selected, a QR code is sent via email for travellers to present to airport staff at the security checkpoint within 15 minutes of their scheduled time.
