Rocky Mountaineer has left the station once again - after an entire year without operating its renowned luxury rail service in Western Canada.
On 05JUL, the Canadian rail travel company restarted its operations with a revised 2021 season. For now, it will operate at a reduced schedule, but fully expects to be back at regular capacity come AUG.
Rocky Mountaineer assures guests and travel advisors that pandemic protections are still in place including rapid COVID tests for every guest and crew member, thorough sanitization efforts, filtration systems and glass barriers between dining tables.
The pandemic isn’t the only ongoing concern however, and Rocky Mountaineer has also had to adjust their plans due to the concurrent B.C. wildfires. Guests booked on the rail lines between Vancouver and Kamloops instead traveled by guided motorcoach to Kamloops then joined the second leg to Banff. Further updates regarding the wildfire situation are posted on its website.
To celebrate its return, Rocky Mountaineer is offering several promotions for customers, hoping they will entice Canadians to make domestic train travel plans this year. They include:
- Fairmont promotion: Rocky Mountaineer partnered with Fairmont to offer savings of up to $2,900 per couple on packages that pair the train with overnight stays in Fairmont properties.
- Alberta-BC residents: can travel on a rail journey this year and receive a voucher to travel again within the next five years.
- Canadian residents: can save up to $1,400 per couple on vacation packages of five days or more.
