The cruise line has revealed more details of its plans to mark its 25 years in operations.
Disney Cruise Line made waves in 1998 as the first cruise line to produce a fireworks show at sea, which has since become a signature feature of the line's cruise experience.
In a post on its blog on 18JAN, DCL revealed that a new fireworks display will premiere on select anniversary sailings, including on most Bahamian, Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises this summer.
According to the company blog post, "The dazzling spectacle will be set to the tunes of iconic and beloved Disney music, and anchoring the show will be a brand-new signature song created especially for the 'Silver Anniversary at Sea.'"
In a Disney twist on a traditional captain's reception, guests will be invited to their ship's atrium to join, not only the captain and cruise director, but also Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse - both in new looks for the festive occasion. Entertainment will include the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” theme song.
In addition, past guest members of the Castaway Club who sail during the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” this summer will receive a limited-edition , 11x14 inch framed art print in their stateroom to commemorate the anniversary, while supplies last.
The design was created by Disney artist Joe Kaminski, whose work is featured in The Art of Disney galleries, Disney resort hotels and Disney Cruise Line ships.
