Sunwing Vacations has launched its winter schedule for 2023-2024 with a 15 per cent increase in capacity compared to the previous winter season.
Sunwing flights will depart from 23 airports across Canada to 26 sun destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and the United States.
Open Jaw asked Sunwing to qualify which tails the flights will be serviced by - Sunwing or WestJet. According to Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations, “All of this winter’s schedule is being planned by Sunwing Airlines and flown on WG flight numbers. On routes or date ranges where there aren’t Sunwing flights, we will also continue to offer “E-Packages” utilising scheduled seats available from WestJet and other scheduled airlines”.
Sunwing packages include over 700 hotels, which, according to the operator’s release, is “the largest assortment offered by any vacation provider in Canada.”
Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations at Sunwing Vacations, said, “We are growing capacity from last winter and thrilled to be returning to pre-pandemic travel levels, with more great packages and affordable travel options available to our valued customers this winter."
New additions to the winter schedule include packages to Cienfuegos and Manzanillo de Cuba, for travellers from Toronto and Montreal. In addition, Sunwing has expanded options to Pacific Mexico, including Los Cabos, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta and increased flights to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.
Other highlights of Sunwing's winter lineup include:
- 23 per cent growth in capacity for Cuba, with added flights to Cayo Largo, Cienfuegos, and Manzanillo de Cuba
- 26 per cent growth in overall capacity for Atlantic Canada, with significant increases in Fredericton, Halifax, and Gander
- 24 per cent growth in overall capacity for Western Canada and the Prairies, with more flights from Regina, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg
To accommodate the expanded schedule, the operator has also announced it is hiring for pilots and seasonal cabin crew positions across the country.
Sunwing packages include complimentary checked baggage, free airport transfers for certain packages and exclusive perks at resorts.
