G Adventures Boosts Commissions after Record January

With January peaks behind us, G Adventures, the world’s largest small-group adventure operator, is celebrating a record-breaking sales period, surpassing its January targets, with a staggering 54% increase in agency sales in Canada versus the previous year.

To celebrate this milestone, the adventure travel pioneer is thanking its agent partners in Canada with an extra-special ‘G Normous’ incentive, seeing agents earning up to 3% additional commission through February.

“January is our most important sales month, and our travel agent partners have knocked it out of the park, working round the clock to help connect their customers with the trip of a lifetime. Over this last quarter, agency sales are 51% up compared to last year, and we’ve just seen the highest January sales in G Adventures’ history in Canada. Our agents have played a huge part in helping us to achieve this. I’d also like to say a huge thanks to our Canadian sales team, who continue to do an outstanding job in supporting our agency community with passion, purpose and happiness, ” says David Green, managing director in Canada.

“Our popular four-month ‘G Normous’ incentive has been running throughout January, seeing agents earning monthly prizes until the end of April, with $40,000 in prize value up for grabs and, to thank agents for all their hard work over the peak period, we’ve launched an additional G Normous incentive, offering them the opportunity to earn increased commission on every adventure booked through February," Green continues.

The new incentive will see agents earning an additional 2% on any G Adventures trip, or an additional 3% on the new Geluxe trips, when booked before 28 February 2025.

“In 2024, we saw record growth every single month in Canada, making it our fastest growing market, and January has only highlighted further that there is real demand for adventure and community based travel, as travellers continue to seek more immersive ways to explore the world. We’ve seen incredible growth across all our travel styles, with our Active, National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures and Classic travel styles all seeing over 20% growth year on year. Our new Geluxe trips, which offer travellers the opportunity to experience some of the world’s most incredible active experiences, combined with stand-out accommodation and food experiences, has performed better than we could have imagined, and now sits among our top five booked travel styles for January," Green continues.

“Having just returned from Egypt on my very first Geluxe trip, I can see why this new travel style is resonating with Canadian travellers, who are seeking more active and immersive experiences whilst benefiting from more upgraded accommodations. I embarked on Egypt: Pyramids, Temples & The Nile and I was blown away by the whole experience. For me, there’s nothing like it on the market and it really highlighted the benefit of travelling in a small-group, with an experienced and local guide. While other travellers in large groups were being shepherded around ancient sites, with guides using laser pointers to briefly explain centuries worth of history we, in comparison, had time to explore the temples and tombs - a real Indiana Jones moment - while our Chief Experience Officer explained the fascinating history, as well as local tales that really brought it all to life. Every Geluxe trip includes an ‘OMG Stay’ - an accommodation option which celebrates the local culture of the destination. We cruised along the Nile River on a private Dahabiya, taking in the beauty of our surroundings, but also visited Bisaw Island, where we met a local community and learnt to bake bread with a family - just one of the many incredible experiences you can only do as part of a small group,” Green adds.

“With all our new trips and travel styles, we’re working with our agents to keep them up to date with everything new. There is high demand for community based travel, with Canadians seeking new and alternative experiences. When they book through G Adventures, they aren’t just supporting community tourism in the destination their customer visits, they are supporting a Canadian business, founded here in Canada 35 years ago, with our best years ahead of us, thanks to our travel agent community,” says Green.

“Having launched over 200 new trips for 2025 - the biggest product launch in G Adventures history - travellers now have even more choice of where and how they explore. Many of these new trips focus on helping travellers explore new regions of destinations, with fewer tourists and greater interaction with local communities. January has seen sales rocket for destinations such as Japan (33%), Morocco (66%), Ecuador (43%), India (40%) and Peru (37%) compared to January 2024. Jordan, where we have launched six new trips, has made an incredible recovery and we’re excited to bring our community together in this incredible destination in September for our famous GX Summit,” Green concludes.

Agents wanting to take advantage of the new increased commission incentive, simply need to add the promo code GNORMOUS into Sherpa when booking. Full details can be found here or via their local GPS. All bookings also count towards the ChangeMakers incentive that is also running until 31 May 2025, with top selling agents winning places on the much-anticipated GX Summit in Jordan.
