Intrepid Travel Integrates Urban Adventures into U.S. Portfolio

Intrepid Travel has officially brought its Urban Adventures (UA) city tour brand under its North American Destination Management Company (DMC).

This transition marks the conclusion of a 15-year partnership with WeVenture, which helped launch and operate UA in the U.S.

"Urban Adventures is a cornerstone of Intrepid’s mission to connect travelers with the heart of local communities," said Matt Berna, Senior Vice President for North America.

"This isn’t just about running tours—it’s about reshaping how Americans experience their own backyard. We’re creating deeper connections, amplifying local stories, and giving back to the communities that make these cities so special."

The move reflects Intrepid’s growing influence in the U.S., where it serves more customers than in any other destination in its global DMC network.

Amanda Neiman, previously the North American DMC Operations Manager, has been promoted to Operations Director and will oversee UA’s operational delivery.

Reporting directly to Berna, Neiman will work closely with Jason Fried, one of WeVenture’s original founders. Fried will continue to lead the UA team for Intrepid and expand the UA team and portfolio.

"Connection, Curiosity, and Community"

In 2025, the company expects to host over 40,000 Urban Adventures travellers in cities across the country, supported by six city managers and more than 80 expert tour leaders.

Combined with overseas visitors and hiking tours from Wildland Trekking, Intrepid anticipates over 55,000 U.S.-based travellers this year.

"Urban Adventures represents everything Intrepid stands for: connection, curiosity, and community," said Amanda Neiman, Operations Director.

"With this expansion, we’re making local experiences even more meaningful and accessible for travelers across the U.S."

City Experiences Across the U.S.

Urban Adventures operates tours in cities including Boston, Chicago, Denver, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Washington D.C. Guides lead each tour with deep ties to their communities.

Tour highlights include:

  • Discovering the culture of New Orleans’ French Quarter, including local jazz clubs.
  • Seattle’s famous coffee culture with insights from industry insiders.
  • A private Broadway night out in New York City or the culinary history of NYC’s Tenements.
  • Walking Boston’s Food to Freedom Trail as an alternative to traditional bus tours.

One of Urban Adventures’ most popular experiences is the Washington Mall & Monuments tour by electric car.
