National Jamaican Jerk Day at Blue Diamond Resorts

Blue Diamond Resorts

National Jamaican Jerk Day (24OCT) is a day when authentic jerk cuisine meets luxury at one of Blue Diamond Resorts’ premier Jamaican properties.

This annual holiday honours the unique flavours of jerk cooking, a culinary tradition that started with the Maroons and has grown into a worldwide sensation.

“Jerk cuisine is more than just a meal to Jamaicans; it's a true representation of our rich culture—spicy, like the scotch bonnet peppers we use, yet diverse, much like our people, says Damion Myers, Regional Executive Chef, Jamaica for Blue Diamond Resorts. “The fiery, smoky aroma brings back memories from my youth, where gatherings around the open flame symbolized family unity. Our company, Blue Diamond Resorts, takes pride in embracing the essence of each destination, and Jamaica is no exception.”

Whipping up some delicious and authentic jerk dishes is no easy task, but thanks to Damion and his staff, Blue Diamond Resorts is serving some of the best jerk dishes year-round that are sure to make your taste buds tingle. From local festivals to five-star menus, Jamaican jerk is celebrated far and wide, so why not experience the authentic taste of Jamaica right where it all began, in Jamaica?

At Royalton NegrilHideaway at Royalton Blue Waters, and Royalton Blue Waters, taste buds dance via the resort’s on-site Jerk Huts. Located right on the beach, succulent jerk chicken, pork and fish, is served up with familiar favorites like Rice and Peas, Festival and Hard Dough Bread. “In Montego Bay, at Royalton Blue Waters and Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters, our Jerk Hut on the beach offers cooks up an authentic selection of smoked meats prepared with homegrown pimento leaves and traditional jerk spices. Similar flavors can be found in our Negril properties at Gourmet Marche and Calypso restaurants,” Damion explains. “Our team of talented chefs, who specialize in perfecting this art, are the heart of this experience. They skillfully bring the essence of Jamaica to life through every dish, ensuring guests can savor the unique and authentic flavors of the island. Many of our guests return to the Jerk Hut day after day, excited to immerse themselves in this beloved tradition.”
