G Adventures Celebrates 1,000th Post-COVID Trip Departure with Promotion

Last week, G Adventures celebrated its 1,000th tour departure with 11 trips embarking to coincide with the milestone date. It also recorded its shortest booking window since the pandemic, with people booking on average four months prior to departure, which the company notes is on a par with pre-COVID lead times.

To celebrate the recovery milestones, the adventure operator is offering a 20 per cent discount off its Classic program of adventures, available to book up until 01NOV 2021 for travel before 31OCT 2022.

David Green, managing director for G Adventures in Canada, says that while there is still a travel advisory in place, it isn’t stopping Canadian travellers from booking tours. “We’re back running trips in more than 20 countries and are experienced in all the new protocols required for travel as the world reopens. The shortened booking window proves Canadian travellers are trusting us to get them back out into the world sooner rather than later," he said in a release.

“We’re seeing a real desire for people wanting to take those once-in-a-lifetime bucket list adventures, so we’re delighted to be able to offer a healthy 20 per cent discount to help people achieve their long-awaited travel goals. Canadians are hungry to reconnect with the world, and we’re ready to help them achieve that."

Some examples of Classic tours eligible for the 20 per cent off promotion include:

  • Ultimate Italy - Guests can walk through piazzas, stroll through the canals of Venice, and float past villas on Lake Como. Travellers can marvel at Rome and the Renaissance masterpieces of Florence and appreciate the scenery when sipping on vino in Tuscany or sampling local delicacies within the walls of Montepulciano. This tour was priced from CAD $3,799 per person, and is now priced from CAD $3,229 per person for a 14-day trip from Rome to Venice.
  • Machu Picchu Adventure - Guests can embrace cultures past and present in the hills surrounding Cusco and delight in the views of the Sacred Valley while travelling by rail to Machu Picchu. Taking the train allows travellers time to explore ruins, museums, and markets. This tour was priced from CAD $1,729 per person, and is now priced from CAD $1,383 per person for an eight-day trip from Lima return.
  • Backroads of Japan - guests can visit the castle of Matsumoto and learn about samurai culture, relax in a traditional hot spring-fed onsen, explore the city of Hagi by bicycle, and settle in at a community homestay. This tour was priced from CAD $4,699 per person now priced from CAD $3,759 per person for an 11-day trip from Tokyo to Kyoto.

In OCT, G Adventures also started its Vaccinated Tours and Travel-Ready programs, an evolution of its Travel with Confidence policy which also remains in place. This policy was introduced in JUN 2020, and saw the implementation of enhanced health, safety and physical distancing measures across all tours.

On Vaccinated Tours, all travellers and tour leaders (which the company calls CEO's or chief experience officers) must have received a full COVID-19 vaccination with the final dose administered at least 14 days prior to day one of the tour. On Travel-Ready tours, all travellers and CEOs must have either received a full COVID-19 vaccination, or have a negative PCR test within 96 hours prior to day one of their tour’s departure.

All trips booked benefit from G Adventures’ Book with Confidence policy, which lets travellers cancel or rebook their tour up to 14 days before their departure at no extra cost.
