Windstar Cruises' newly renovated Star Legend debuted today, 27SEP, in Portugal on a ten-day voyage from Lisbon to Barcelona, stopping at ports along the way including Portimão, Cádiz (overnight), Gibraltar, Málaga (overnight), Cartagena, and Palma de Mallorca.
The cruise line's three all-suite Star Plus Class yachts, Star Breeze, Star Legend, and Star Pride, have all been undergoing major transformations, with Star Breeze as the first to debut of the three in JUN 2021 with new suites and expanded outdoor and indoor public spaces. Star Legend has now followed with a renovation in Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard.
The three yachts are all set to be more environmentally friendly with efficient engines, generators, and advanced wastewater treatment systems. In addition, the maximum capacity for all thre ships will increase from 212 guests to 312, as well as adding additional dining experiences.
New cuisine options will include an outdoor barbecue concept from Steven Raichlen and the other a Spanish small plates restaurant from Anthony Sasso, one of the youngest chefs to be recognized by the Michelin Guide. Other new amenities include a spa and fitness center, an infinity pool, and more outdoor deck areas.
These three all-suite yachts will remain small enough to continue to visit small ports and waterways around the world.
Five of the Windstar Cruises' six yachts have returned to operations while requiring vaccines of all passengers and crew amongst a host of health and safety precautions including testing, social distancing, masks, and air filtration.
