The airline industry is witnessing a shift in the concept of luxury air travel, particularly regarding first class cabins, reports Simple Flying. Several airlines are phasing out first class on long-haul flights while others are investing in enhancing the experience.
Airlines such as Qatar Airways, American Airlines, Air New Zealand, Turkish Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and South African Airways have chosen to eliminate first class and instead expand and improve business class. Conversely, carriers like Lufthansa, Qantas, and Air France have focused on developing their first class product.
The trend is attributed to changing passenger demands following the pandemic, with former first class pax now moving up to private jets, or down to more affordable but still enhanced premium economy cabins.
