LATAM Peru, and other airlines’ operations are impacted by the continued closure of three of Peru’s airports as the country remains plagued by political violence that began late last year. Ayacucho (AYP) and Jaén (JAE) closed this week and Juliaca (JUL) remained closed.
Five additional airports in the country were closed earlier but have since re-opened after protesters destroyed runways and damaged air traffic and other facilities at three of them, including Cuzco (CUZ), as Simply Flying reports.
The violence and damage to airports led local authorities to reinforce security measures, especially at Lima International (LIM), which remains open at this time.
