More Air Passenger Protections Coming this Spring: Transport Minister

Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said on 24JAN that the federal government will be introducing an overhauled airline passenger bill of rights by this spring.

As reported by the CBC, airlines are pushing back against any increases in fines or pax compensation. Airline executives from major airlines speaking at a House Transport Committee emergency hearing into holiday travel meltdowns expressed frustration with how last fall’s updates put all the responsibility for delayed and cancelled flights on airlines, even for things outside their control.
