Following the EU’s removal of the U.S. from its ‘safe travel’ list, European countries are seemingly mixed on the arrival of American travellers. Bulgaria recently announced it would move the U.S. to its ‘red zone’ and prohibit travel for all Americans, regardless of vaccination status. While all Americans are barred from entering the country, there are some exceptions including those with a Bulgarian or EU citizenship. Meanwhile, Portugal will remain open to U.S. travellers, according to Visit Portugal, the country's tourism authority. "Portugal has confirmed that discretionary, non-essential travel is still allowed, provided visitors present a negative COVID-19 test result at boarding and entry into the country," a statement from the authority said. This follows recent news that Italy will be adding some restrictions for American travellers regardless of vaccination status.
