St. Lucia Expert Travel Advisors from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Caribbean were invited to attend the second annual Global Piton Awards on the Caribbean island.

The weekend culminated with an award ceremony at Sandals Grande St. Lucian, where the 35 top-producing travel advisors were honoured for selling Saint Lucia. Travel advisors who booked over 400 room nights within the last two-and-a-half years through the Saint Lucia Expert (SLEx) Program were celebrated on the island with an immersive VIP experience.

The SLEx program is a comprehensive educational resource with free membership for travel advisors interested in selling Saint Lucia to their clients at an expert level of knowledge.

From expedited VIP services at the airport to a private cocktail reception at the Prime Minister’s official residence, travel advisors experienced the destination firsthand with personalized experiences, including a catamaran cruise to the Pitons, the Luxe Lucian Lime, and a visit to the world-renowned Friday Night Gros-Islet Street Party.

The 2022 Global Piton Awards awarded (35) travel advisors from around the globe, including Canada (5), the Caribbean (5), the United Kingdom (10), and the United States (15). All travel professionals received the exclusive “Mark insignia” of Saint Lucia along with a locally handcrafted trophy and VIP experience.

“At a time when the world looked to tourism as the main economic driver, our Travel Advisors and carriers placed special confidence in Saint Lucia. A major part of our success and global prominence is attributed to their continued selling of our island’s offerings. They undoubtedly remain the pulse of our industry, and we are delighted to express our most heartfelt appreciation,” remarked Lorine Charles St. Jules, Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.

Air Canada and WestJet were among the air partners honoured for their support with SLTA Partnership awards, along with Air Antilles, American Airlines, British Airways, Capo Rosso, Caribbean Airlines, Delta, Inter Caribbean Airlines, JetBlue, L’Express des Iles, LIAT, Sunwing, TUI, United Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.
