The African Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA) highlighted its "most successful year" at the continent's largest pan-African tourism event, which it says symbolized a strong resurgence of tourism in Africa.

Africa’s Travel Indaba 2023 ran from 09-11MAY in Durban, South Africa. The ATTA highlighted that it was the leading exhibitor at the event.

ATTA CEO Jon Danks and Chairman Nick Aslin met with the tourism ministers of Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Zambia on the second day of the event, which they say was a "remarkable opportunity for collaboration." The ministers in attendance were Vera Kamtukule, Minister of Tourism for Malawi; Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu, Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism, and Hospitality Industry for Zimbabwe; and Rodney Sikumba, Minister of Tourism for Zambia.

"ATTA's presence at Indaba 2023 surpassed any previous event in its history, reaffirming the continent's thriving tourism sector," said the Association in a statement.

ATTA, a membership organization, has facilitated tourism growth in Africa to Africa and Indian Ocean Islands for thirty years. With over 615 members, ATTA acts as a Pan-Africa network of tourism product covering accommodation, transport and travel specialists in Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, as well as a selection of tour operators, representation and PR companies worldwide.
