Air Canada, in partnership with Switzerland Tourism, recently hosted a group of travel advisors and media at the latest edition of the Air Canada Race in Basel, Switzerland.
Held between 21AUG and 02SEP, the event saw 36 travel professionals meet for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic and celebrate a return to travelling.
Open Jaw Quebec's very own Isabelle Chagnon was in attendance, and reported back twice about the popular event, which resumed in-person this year.
Isabelle wrote about the event, made possible by Switzerland Tourism, and the accommodations, meals, meetings, and discussions the group had during the race. After the event, Isabelle and other advisors headed for Gstaad and Lucerne, where she captured some lovely photos.
Air Canada has now produced and published a video of the race:
Air Canada notes that its goal was to illustrate that travel can resume in a safe and responsible manner by familiarizing these travel agents with the airline's approach to safety.
“There is a great sense of optimism as travel is returning, but as that occurs it’s critical that everyone understands what to expect in this new environment. By hosting travel agents for this first international trip in quite some time, we wanted to fill them with the same confidence and optimism that all of us at Air Canada have about the future,” said Lisa Pierce, Vice President, Canada and USA Sales at Air Canada.
Agents qualified for participation earlier in the year by completing an Air Canada and Switzerland Tourism training program, meeting booking incentives and/or participating in a social media contest.
