Mario Péloquin Appointed New President and CEO Of VIA Rail

The minister of transport, Omar Alghabra, has named Mario Péloquin president and CEO of VIA Rail Canada Inc. He will serve for a five-year term, beginning 12JUN, 2023.

Péloquin replaces Martin Landry, who had been serving as interim CEO since MAY 2022 after previous president and CEO Cynthia Garneau resigned following three years in the role.

Péloquin has nearly 40 years of experience in the transportation and rail industries. In a release detailing his appointment, the government of Canada noted Péloquin “possesses considerable executive-level experience, is an active member of his community and brings a wide array of knowledge and expertise to this position.”
