The Caribbean needs your help.

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) is seeking donations after Hurricane Beryl caused immense destruction in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as islands of Grenada.

It is also is looking for the industry to contribute nights of stay or exclusive packages, and to continue visiting the Caribbean, which is heavily reliant upon tourism.

“The CHTA, alongside the CHTA Education Foundation and the national hotel and tourism associations, urgently appeals for your support in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl,” a statement from the association said. “This powerful storm has caused significant damage to the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique in Grenada, as well as Mayreau, Canouan, and the Union Islands in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”

“Your donations can make a profound difference in the recovery, rebuilding efforts, and support of the hospitality and tourism industry. We are committed to providing long-term support to those affected. Contributions are tax-deductible, both personal and corporate donors, ensuring that your generosity not only aids in recovery but also offers financial benefits.”

The organization also noted that people need to keep visiting the Caribbean, and that agents need to continue to send clients.

“While Hurricane Beryl has impacted specific areas of our region, many Caribbean destinations remain unaffected and fully open to tourists,” the CHTA said. “Your visit to these destinations will play a crucial role in supporting our region's economy and the communities that rely on tourism.”

Importance of Continued Support for the CHTAEF

For nearly four decades, your steadfast commitment and generous contributions have played a crucial role in shaping the Caribbean's hospitality landscape. Since 1986, the CHTAEF annual Fundraising Auction, supported by donations of hotel stays and bids on these stays, has not only raised essential funds but also significantly fostered the development of our hospitality professionals through scholarships and training.

As we launch this special auction dedicated to the Beryl relief efforts, it's important to emphasize that this initiative is meant to complement, not replace, the vital annual contributions made to the CHTAEF through both hotel stay donations and bids. The ongoing support for our traditional auction forms the backbone of the CHTAEF's fundraising efforts, enabling continuous educational scholarships and professional development opportunities.

Your participation in both our traditional and this special auction is greatly valued. By supporting both, you help sustain the foundation’s ongoing initiatives and make a significant contribution to our emergency relief efforts, showcasing the resilience and unity of our community.
