LONDON LIVERY

Londoner Hotel is Practically Perfect

From my window at the Londoner Hotel, I could see the tip of her umbrella. Mary Poppins, about to take flight across Leicester Square. This is just one of the much-loved bronze statues which pepper the park, and just one of many London landmarks that are easily accessible from this modern luxury hotel, which is Cunard’s flagship hotel in London.

Liveried doormen greet you as you enter the beautifully appointed lobby, and spit, spot,  you are immediately attended to by their helpful staff. The lobby encompasses their main bar, which is perfect for a glass of bubbly or a spoonful of sugar after exploring the city. If you’re staying at the hotel,  you are granted access to The Residence, three beautiful guest-only parlor rooms:  The Y Bar, The Drawing Room, and The Whisky Room.

While Leicester Square is steps from the front door of the hotel, another few hundred steps will take you to the heart of London’s Chinatown. Keep strolling and within 10 minutes you can be in Trafalgar Square, or entering one of the many West End Theatres located within the district.  If you’re up for a longer stroll, you can make your way to Buckingham Palace, the Churchill War Rooms, or even Harrods, within 40 minutes.

Of course, this is assuming you want to leave the hotel, because there are many reasons to stay.

From the (below) ground up, there is a state-of-the-art fitness room and a pool and spa area that comes complete with private cabanas. Or, go skyward and end up at 8. At the Londoner, three Japanese-inspired spaces, including a rooftop bar and a Shima Garden outdoor space. With views that encompass the London Eye and Nelson’s Column, you’ll want to lounge here, until you're ready to head to one of 350 rooms at this Super Boutique hotel.
The rooms are teched out, including a toilet that knows how to do almost everything for you, except say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

You definitely won’t want to check out, but when you do, you’ll find the staff accommodating and helpful in getting you on your way via cab or foot…or flying umbrella.

As Open Jaw president, Nina Slawek, noted after our stay, “I’ve never experienced such service. Anywhere. Even the charming group manager, Kris Leszczynski, can often be seen at front doors ready to chat and receive feedback. A remarkably unusual experience.”

(Note: The Group Check In area is completely separate from the main lobby, which cuts down on the heavy traffic and challenges of processing busloads of guests.)
