"Our job is to find the most stunning destinations anywhere in the world", said Executive Chairman Adam Stewart in his address at the Grand Opening of Sandals Royal Curaçao. "And Curaçao is one of the most beautiful places my family and I, and our company have ever been."
"It's been 10 years in the making," Stewart recalls the time he and his late father Butch, visited Curaçao in 2009, to tour a property under construction, adding "Could you imagine if Sandals Resorts could get our hand on a resort like this and 'Sandalize' it, what we could do?" As fate would have it, the opportunity arose to acquire the former Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort during the pandemic, and this past Friday we were lucky enough to experience the transformation for ourselves."
The evening kicked off with cocktails and acrobatic dancers, synchronized swimmers, local musicians, artists and a culinary feast that took celebrations to ever-higher levels.
That was even before surprise guest performers, and a nod to Blue Curaçao, the Blue Man Group started 'beating the drums for' the resort's opening, amazing guests with their unique brand of entertainment.
As the evening progressed, a mini Carnival parade of dancers in elaborate costume, and marching bands took to the resort grounds and guided party-goers to the beachside disco party.
Sandals Resorts are also celebrating their 40 year anniversary so it was only fitting that we cap off the night with a disco party.
