Royal Caribbean International has announced the expansion of its destination lineup with Royal Beach Club Cozumel in Mexico.

The announcement to build a second beach club comes as Royal Caribbean prepares to open its first Royal Beach Club in 2025 at Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas.

The "ultimate beach day" experience, part of the Royal Beach Club Collection, will offer beaches and pools, swim-up bars, a variety of dining spots, such as a restaurant, bar and lounge, and a street market, as well as hands-on experiences, including tequila tastings and cooking classes.

During a recent event, Jason Liberty (the president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group), Michael Bayley (the president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International), Bernardo Cueto Riestra (the Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo, Mexico), and Cozumel Mayor Juanita Alonso unveiled plans for the addition to the Royal Beach Club Collection. The club's future location is set to open in 2026 on the island's western coast.

Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, said in a statement, "We are delighted to build on our longstanding partnership with the local community and government to continue bringing our guests to Mexico.

"The expansion of our destination offerings aligns with the growing global demand for the ultimate vacation experiences and enables our guests to connect with the beauty of local cultures and people in the places they visit."

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, added: "The anticipation for what's next when it comes to Royal Caribbean destinations has only continued to build since we revealed Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in The Bahamas that opens in 2025. Now is the perfect time to announce the next iteration of this collection with Royal Beach Club Cozumel. Cozumel is an incredible destination, and the beach club will perfectly complement all the island has to offer as an experience that combines familiar Royal Caribbean touches with the spirit of Mexico, alongside amenities and activities for every type of vacationer."

The new beach club experience is the latest in the cruise line’s growing lineup of destinations, which includes Perfect Day at CocoCay, The Bahamas, which underwent a USD$250 million transformation in 2019.

Travel Weekly reports that the line's Royal Beach Club concept differs from the private destination Perfect Day at CocoCay. While the beach club offers experiences near public ports of call with an entrance fee, Perfect Day is included without additional charge.
