American Queen Voyages Introduces Christmas Market Cruises

American Queen Voyages (AQV) has announced the launch of their new Christmas Markets Experiential Voyages, set to take place in 2023 and 2024.

Partnering with the City of Natchez, MS, AQV aims to recreate traditional European Christmas markets in the United States.

“We are delighted to be partnering with the City of Natchez for our new Christmas Markets cruises,” said Cindy D'Aoust, president, American Queen Voyages. “Natchez is the quintessential Christmas town, making it the perfect place for our guests to enjoy this festive fusion of European yuletide nostalgia and authentic Southern charm.”

Travellers on AQV's American Countess and American Queen ships will have the opportunity to explore extended port calls in Natchez, where festive market stalls adorned with holiday decorations and twinkling lights will be set up. Guests will have the chance to indulge in traditional delicacies like eggnog, fruitcake, and gingerbread, while also shopping for hand-crafted treasures crafted by local artisans.

Dan M. Gibson, Mayor of Natchez, said, "Natchez is the only city on the Mississippi River selected for this great opportunity and we are honoured. This wouldn’t be happening without the help of our own Regina Charboneau, Culinary Ambassador of American Queen Voyages, and also great friends to Natchez and American Queen Voyages, Warren and Nancy Reuther. This will provide an additional draw for tourists from our entire region, and it will be the best Natchez Christmas ever!"

Apart from the Christmas Markets, AQV also offers other holiday-themed experiences such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Experiential Voyages.

“The new, immersive Christmas Markets voyages have expanded our holiday offerings for travellers who wish to discover the hidden gems along the river,” said D’Aoust.

Other Holiday Experiential Voyages for 2023 include:

  • Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving cruises offer guests a chance to experience American heritage amidst river views. Guests can enjoy a traditional feast with dishes like roasted turkey, various Southern dressings, green beans, sweet potato pie, bourbon pecan pie, and more.
  • Christmas Cruises: Christmas Cruises offer a festive atmosphere with onboard decorations, carollers, holiday classics performances, and seasonal libations.
  • News Year’s Eve: Guests will ring in the new year aboard a festive holiday cruise, featuring a gala New Year’s Eve dinner, champagne, and dancing.
