Princess Cruises to Celebrate King Charles' Coronation on UK-based Ships

Regal Princess

Coronation-themed events and entertainment are on tap aboard two Princess Cruises ships based in the United Kingdom to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III next month. Guests aboard Sky Princess and Regal Princess, both sailing out of Southampton, will enjoy a host of activities designed to celebrate King Charles’ ascension to the throne.

Aboard both ships on 06MAY, live coverage of ‘The Coronation Service at Westminster’ and ‘The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle’ will be shown on the 300-square-foot ‘Movies Under the Stars’ jumbotron and Britain's ‘The Biggest Street Party’ will be replicated on top deck.

A ‘Royal Afternoon Tea’ will be served on board both ships, complete with British favourites such as Victoria sponge cake. Pimms and strawberries will be served on the top deck and favourite British fare such as fish and chips, sausage rolls, and trifle will be available in World Fresh Marketplace.

Talks from guest speaker Grant Harrold, former butler of the King, will take place onboard Regal Princess between 03 and 05MAY and on Sky Princess between 06 and 13MAY. Harrold is a former British Royal Household member and a leading etiquette expert, royal commentator and broadcaster.

In addition, the Piazza on board both ships will be decorated for the occasion using banners and buntings in the Royal colours and guests will be encouraged to wear the Royal red, white and blue for a special dress up night.

Regal Princess will call to Holyhead in Wales on 06MAY as part of the ship’s itinerary around the British Isles, meaning guests get the chance to experience the historical moment in a part of the UK that has strong ties with the King.

On Sky Princess an exclusive array of Coronation-themed entertainment will take place, including a special ‘Royal Variety Show’– featuring a tribute to Elton John – performed in the Princess Theatre, as well as ‘Royal Trivia’ in Princess Live!.

According to Princess, some staterooms are still available for Royal watchers aboard Regal Princess, departing 30APR 2023 and calling at Portland, Guernsey, Cork, Greenock (for Glasgow) and Holyhead, as well as for Sky Princess calling at Guernsey, La Rochelle, Bilbao and La Coruna, departing 06MAY 2023.
