Turkish Airlines has been recognized by the International Air Transport Association as the world’s third-largest airline for 2024 in both international passenger capacity and cargo market share.

The growth reflects Turkish Airlines' commitment to superior comfort, connectivity, and onboard dining, the company said in a statement.

"With seamless stopovers in Istanbul and access to premium lounges worldwide, Turkish Airlines offers travelers elevated experiences both in the air and on the ground. The airline has steadily climbed the ranks, moving from 13th in 2012 to 3rd today, showcasing remarkable progress in the aviation sector."

“Turkish Airlines continues to set industry benchmarks with its strong financial performance and strategic growth as showcased by our 2024 results," said Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee. :Despite global challenges, we remain committed to delivering our award-winning service and expanding our global network, while providing long-term value for our investors, employees, and of course our guests.

"As we move forward towards our 100th anniversary, we take pride in strengthening Türkiye’s position as a key player in global aviation and forge ahead on our journey to the top.”

Airline officials say several highlights help explain the company's rapid rise:

  • Unrivaled Comfort in the Air: Spacious and ergonomic seating across all cabin classes, featuring extra legroom, specially designed baby bassinet locations, and emergency exit seats. Each seat is equipped with personal monitors, adjustable footrests, USB ports, and power outlets for a seamless in-flight experience.
  • In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity: Passengers enjoy an extensive selection of movies, TV shows, games, and music on personal 12 to 13.3-inch screens, along with Wi-Fi connectivity to stay connected throughout their journey.
  • Gastronomic Delights at High Altitude: Turkish Airlines, in partnership with Turkish DO & CO, elevates in-flight dining with its Flying Chefs, offering gourmet dishes inspired by both Turkish and international cuisines.
  • Exclusive Lounge Access: Business travelers can experience Turkish Airlines’ world-class lounges, featuring gourmet meals, sleeping areas, shower facilities, massage chairs, and even a children's play area for added convenience.
  • Seamless Stop-Over in Istanbul: The innovative Stop-Over program provides passengers with complimentary hotel stays, allowing them to explore Istanbul’s vibrant history and iconic landmarks before continuing their journey.
