Flair Airlines Plays Trump Card with Flash Sale Ad

Has Flair Airlines played a “trump card” in its latest promotion? With a tongue-in-cheek reference to the trade war between Canada and the U.S., the low-cost carrier’s Instagram feed features a “tariffic” flight deal that it says can’t be “trumped.”

Until the end of the day on 05MAR, Flair is offering 25% off all flights Canada-wide, as well as on flights to/from Mexico and the Caribbean. Travel is limited between March 11 and June 12. For a frame of reference, at the time of writing, a flight from Toronto to Puna Cana started at $181 while Vancouver to Guadalajara began at $121. The fares are one-way, non-refundable with taxes and fees included.

The punny promotion received a mixed reaction on the discount airline’s Instagram page. “That’s awesome,” wrote user steffihodson, while user sunshine.wanderer added, “Y’all really went there.” Meanwhile, dnielsen1955 wrote, “never fly with Flair.”

Billing itself as Canada’s leading low-fare airline, Flair has an expanding fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft and serves dozens of cities across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico.
