Winter Wallops Eastern Canada: Massive Flight Cancellations

Old Man Winter is throwing Canadian travel a major headache, with nearly 300 flight cancellations at airports in Ontario and Quebec.

FlightAware reports 282 outgoing and incoming flights had been cancelled as of 7 a.m. Eastern Time on13FEB for YYZ, YUL, YOW, YTZ and YQB.

The Weather Network warned of snowfalls reaching 15-35 cm’s throughout Ontario. Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City were expecting heavy snows on 13FEB.

FlightAware indicates that, as of 7 a.m. on 13FEB, 21% of outgoing flights were cancelled at YQB, 20% at YUL, 19% at YOW, 15% at YTZ and 11% at YYZ.

Air Canada has weather advisories indicating free changes for 13FEB for BOS, ORD, YUL, YOW, YQB, YYZ and YTZ. It has advisories out for 13FEB to 17FEB for all the above Canadian airports.

WestJet has advisories posted for 12FEB-16FEB for YYZ, YUL, YOW, YHM, YQG Windsor, YXU/London, YKF Kitchener-Waterloo
