Cheeky WestJet U.S. Election Day Ad Suggests One-Way Flights to Canada

WestJet One way Flight to Canada

WestJet has done it again.

An airline that’s known for its cheeky, fun advertising and marketing campaigns posted an ad on Instagram on U.S. election day that highlighted one-way tickets to Canada.

The ad shows the green WestJet logo and the words “One-Way Flights to Canada.” Below that is a tag line that says “Stressful day. Could be a nice getaway. #WhereYourStoryTakesOff.”

“We can confirm that the WestJet ad in question was digitally distributed in five cities across California in the lead-up to the U.S. presidential election,” a WestJet spokesperson told Open Jaw. “The ad campaign expired across all digital platforms by 10 p.m. ET last night.”

Responding to the ad on Instagram, a user with the name @hannibalhector said, “Oh WestJet! You are funny. Your advertising genius that created this deserves a raise.”

“I have a room reserved in Toronto,” said another person on Instagram, @oracle_of_optimism.

A website called casinoshunter.com sent out a release on 05NOV saying that U.S. Google searches for “Move to Canada” had jumped 354% since the start of August.
