The situation in the Middle East is wreaking havoc on airline schedules.
Air Canada has put out an advisory saying that it’s pausing operations to and from Tel Aviv for nearly three more months. The next flight from YYZ to TLV is slated for Tuesday 06AUG, 2024, while the first flight to Israel from YUL is schedule for Monday 12AUG, 2024.
Air Canada had hoped to begin flights to TLV in July.
The Israeli website Globes says United Airlines announced last week that it would not resume flights to Israel until June. This month passengers wishing to fly directly between Israel and North America can only do so on El Al Israel Airlines.
“We remain in contact with the Canadian government,” Air Canada said on its advisory site. We continue to closely monitor the situation and will adjust our plans accordingly.”
Affected customers on Air Canada’s flights to/from/via TLV between now and 05AUG 2024, will be able to rebook to alternate flights if available, or obtain a travel credit or a full refund, the airline said.
“If you purchased your ticket directly from Air Canada (via our website or our contact centres), please reach out to us directly at 1-888-247-2262 (or 1-800-3615373 if yours is an Aeroplan flight reward) about your travel options.
If you purchased your ticket from a travel agency or an online travel website, please contact them.”
Air Canada said potential pax can choose to fly to/from another destination. They will not be charged any change fees, but any fare difference will apply.
Customers who purchased their ticket with Air Canada Vacations, are being advised to reach out to them directly.
