Air Canada's Holiday Spot Takes Off with a Warm Message of Togetherness

Air Canada's Once upon a Tree ad spot for 2023 is the story of two nutcracker bears who go to great lengths to be together for the holidays.

Air Canada has ushered in the 2023 holiday season with a heart-warming advertising spot called "Once Upon a Tree," which Open Jaw got to preview at Cineplex Cinemas Yonge-Dundas on 07DEC. The viewing was followed by a screening of Disney's latest animated musical, "Wish."

Madeline Long-Duke, Director of Commercial Communications at Air Canada, told Open Jaw the event was all about saying 'thank you' to their partners and to the people who diligently worked to bring the new ad to life. Montreal held a similar viewing party to recognize and celebrate the collective efforts of everyone involved in the campaign.

"We have friends here, we have agency partners, we have Air Canada brand and marketing employees, dear friends from the media and, most importantly, family, and hopefully everyone here feels like they are that together," Long-Duke said at the event. "We're excited to be here to preview Air Canada's holiday spot for 2023."

The holiday spot - at times heartwarming, at times thrilling, and altogether inspiring - shows the animated journey of two nutcracker bears who travel to great lengths to be together for the holidays. The English version features musical talent from Montreal singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin, who covers Bryan Adams' iconic 1991 classic, Everything I Do (I Do It For You), while legendary Montreal crooner Jean-Pierre Ferland's 90s hit Une Chance Qu'on S'a plays in the French ad.

"The story speaks to the pride that everyone at Air Canada feels for the role that we have in reuniting loved ones over the holidays. We hope you enjoy this spot we created with our partners, continuing our tradition of combining whimsical animation with lovely Canadian music," Long-Duke said.

You can catch the festive video on Air Canada's social media channels and in-flight entertainment system, as well as on selected television and cinema screens across Canada.

Further embracing the festive spirit, Air Canada recently expanded its in-flight entertainment offering to include a selection of holiday films. The airline will also be offering a holiday dinner on flights between 24-25DEC.
