Air Canada is ready to play its part in the 2020 Tokyo Games, delayed a year for the pandemic.
On social media, the official carrier of Team Canada revealed one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft getting outfitted with new Olympic livery.
The message is simple, with gold lettering reading: Go, Canada, Go!
On the port side, there’s an additional slogan in dramatic black and gold: Fly the Flag, mirrored on the starboard side in French.
You can watch the transformation process and the reveal in the video on Air Canada’s Facebook page.
Air Canada has been a sponsor of the Canadian Olympic Team since 1988 and a sponsor of Canadian Paralympic Team since 2007. Air Canada provides transportation and special services for Canada’s athletes, coaches and support staff for the competition. At Rio 2016, the carrier flew nearly 700 team members to Brazil.
The 2020 Tokyo Games are now set to take place Friday, 23JUL through Sunday 08 AUG this year. While dogged by pandemic issues and controversies, for athletes and their airline, the show must go on - and the teams, support staff, coaches, equipment and luggage must go to Tokyo.
This Dreamliner is ready for its part. After its new paint job over the weekend in YYZ, the aircraft was reportedly put right back into service on a flight to YVR. It will fly to Tokyo NRT during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Air Canada posted a message on its Twitter account with a photo of members of Team Canada reading: "Good luck to @TeamCanada, and welcome on board! Our unique livery has been created to celebrate (Canadian flag) athletes, and we're proud to send the first ones on their way! #FlyTheFlag" athletes, and we're proud to send the first ones on their way! #FlyTheFlag."
