Boston's New England Aquarium accepted a ticket almost 40 years after it was purchased.
Now THAT’s customer service in the travel industry!
The ticket had originally been purchased in 1983, but the purchaser had arrived too late in the day to be able to enter and see the exhibits.
Nearly 40 years later, the purchaser’s niece, Rachel Carle, returned to the aquarium after noticing that the blue ticket her aunt had given her specifically said visitors are welcome to come back, "at any time in the future."
When Carle presented the ticket at the aquarium, the attendant was surprised but, because the ticket didn't specify any date of expiration, it was still technically valid. Fin-tastic.
Carle tweeted about her experience, saying, “My great aunt kept this ticket in her wallet for 40 years and gave it to me when I moved to Boston. Today the New England Aquarium honored it as my admission ticket. Thank you @NEAQ staff for being so sweet and having a laugh with me!”
Some feel-good news:

The ticket now hangs in the aquarium's ticket booth as a memento.
