Canadians will soon have a new way to zip down to one of their favourite sun destinations.
On 29MAR, Open Jaw learned start-up BermudAir plans to expand into Canada with non-stop flights to Toronto and Halifax, marking a significant milestone in the airline's growth.
Starting 17MAY, the airline will begin operations between BDA and YYZ, with flights to YHZ starting on 25MAY.
Tickets are now on sale with special introductory fares available until April 10 starting at $199 USD one-way from Bermuda to Canada and $149 USD one-way from Canada to Bermuda, including taxes.
The airline has identified increased demand “for direct flights between Bermuda and these prominent Canadian cities.
“Toronto, Canada's largest city, is a bustling metropolis with strong economic ties to Bermuda, while Halifax, recognized for its rich history and strategic importance in the Atlantic region, shares historical, cultural, and commercial connections with Bermuda.”
"Toronto and Halifax are currently underserved, and this expansion aligns with our mission to provide year-round service, meeting the needs of both Bermudians and travellers from Canada,” said Adam Scott, Founder & CEO of BermudAir.
Adding YYZ and YHZ means that BermudAir’s full schedule will operate 2,700 flights over a 12-month period, offering 178,000 seats that were not previously available to and from Bermuda.
“With increased demand for travel to Bermuda this winter, BermudAir’s new service will help connect travellers looking to escape to the beauty of the island,” said Kurush Minocher, Executive Director, Airlines Relations and Customer Experience, Greater Toronto Airports Authority.
“We’re pleased to welcome BermudAir as our newest airline partner and put Bermuda back on our non-stop route map at Halifax Stanfield,” said Marie Manning, VP Business Development & Chief Commercial Officer, Halifax International Airport Authority. “We’ve had many requests from our community for a non-stop flight connecting Halifax and Bermuda, and with the short flight time of about two hours, we are confident it will be popular for business and leisure travel year-round.”
BermudAir will operate one of two Embraer E175 aircraft on the Canadian routes, featuring a dual-class cabin, with 14 seats in a business cabin and 52 seats in an economy cabin.
“Committed to delivering a premium in-flight experience, both cabins will provide superior customer service, complimentary food and beverage service (inclusive of alcohol), and exceptional comfort throughout the journey. The business cabin service will offer additional booking flexibility, higher checked baggage allowances, preferential fare conditions for changes and cancellations, and more.”
BermudAir's network also connects the island nation with BOS, FLL, BWI, MCO and other airports.
