Collette has rolled out an advance commission payment program to support travel advisors during the pandemic.

Under its Advanced Commission Program, Collette will pay advisors a portion of the commissions for land-only and air bookings, as well as bookings that include its Travel Protection Plan. The advance commissions will be paid upon receipt of deposits, while the remaining balance will be paid when the clients travel.

"We’re offering up front commissions – not the full amount, but something – we’re just all trying to get through this together," Brett Walker, general manager Canada at Collette, told Open Jaw.

"If the booking is ever cancelled we’re not recalling."

The program will run through 31DEC, 2021, and will be applicable for departures taking place on and after 1MAY, 2021.

Walker stressed that Collette has "always" placed importance on refunding consumers when a tour is cancelled.

"There is so much talk about FTCs and class action suits, but not nearly so much about one little company that didn’t stop refunding cash when we cancelled tours," he said.

"We’re very proud of that fact."
