Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Seabourn announced they're holding travel advisor commission tiers earned in 2019 through 2022.

With this move, the cruise lines are ensuring travel advisors will continue to earn commission at their current rates for the next two years without commission percentages changing.

Each of the cruise lines had previously announced that commission tiers would be maintained through 2021. The new policy extends this protection for an additional year. Commissions are typically commensurate with sailed booking volumes.

“We truly appreciate the continued partnership and loyalty of our valued travel partners,” said Adolfo Perez, Carnival’s Senior Vice President of Global Trade Sales and Marketing. “By maintaining our current commission tiers, we’re recognizing the important role that travel advisors play in the vacation-selling process while providing peace of mind knowing their efforts through 2022 will be compensated at the rate they have worked so hard to earn.”

HAL’s Michelle Sutter, VP of North America Sales, said Holland America Line “appreciates the support and business efforts of travel advisors during these challenging times. We are partners in this journey and must lean into our collective community as we move forward to a return to cruise. Our focus is to do everything we can to support the pursuit of cruise sales and reassure travel advisors that, once we are back in full swing, they will be in a strong position for success.”

According to Seatrade Cruise News, Seabourne’s Steve Smotrys, VP global sales, said the “continual growth and commitment to our longstanding partnership with the travel advisor community. We recognize the difficulties our industry continues to face but remain focused on a successful return to service together.”

Cutline: In an email announcing that trade commissions will be protected through 2022, Carnival’s Adolfo Perez said travel advisor support “has always been immeasurable, and the value you bring to Carnival is unparalleled.”
