Saint Lucia is gearing up to welcome its first international cruise ship since closing its ports in MAR 2020 amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Celebrity Cruises has included Saint Lucia as a port of call on its Celebrity Millennium sailings, debuting from homeport St. Maarten on 05JUN. The ship will sail two different seven-night round-trips through AUG -- one sailing in Aruba, Curaçao and Barbados and the other exploring Tortola, Saint Lucia and Barbados.
According to the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA), all tour operations on the island will be conducted within a “Green Corridor” and disembarking passengers will be subject to the standard protocols of wearing a facemask, physical distancing and sanitizing.
“We are enthusiastic that with the advent of science and technology amid this pandemic, we can prepare for a silver lining. The impact of the cruise sector has been noted the world over and its absence has left an impression on our island’s people. We are therefore looking forward to working within strict protocol to see the successful resumption of the sector,” said Saint Lucia’s Minister of Tourism, Dominic Fedee.
According to the SLTA, Saint Lucia is continuing discussions with several cruise partners that will bring more ship calls into Port Castries in the near future.
