Quark Expeditions Reveals New Polar Helicopter Program

Quark Expeditions has unveiled its new polar helicopter program, for its upcoming new build polar expedition ship Ultramarine. The helicopters aboard the new ship will allow guests to travel deep into the Arctic and Antarctic for the full range of Quark’s adventure itineraries via ‘heli-touring’.

The two twin-engine Airbus H145 helicopters are, according to Quark, both the safest and fastest vehicles in their category.

The helicopters will be used for much more than just flightseeing, as guests will be able to take them for heli-hiking, alpine kayaking and ice sheet heli-landing.

“We can move people to explore further once they arrive in the Polar Regions, to set foot where no human has probably walked—something our competition can't offer,” explains Quark president Andrew White in a statement.

"Our two twin-engine H145 helicopters will be commanded by highly experienced, well-traveled pilots," said Felix Christians, director of helicopter operations for Quark Expeditions. "In addition to having global flying experience, each of them will be trained at Quark Academy with all of our expedition team."

In addition to the helicopter program, Ultramarine offers a robust portfolio of adventure activities, spacious suites, breathtaking public spaces, and what Quark says is more outdoor wildlife viewing space than other expedition ships its size. It also features sustainability features that exceed all industry standards.
