Canadian travellers are eyeing Asia and Scandinavia as top destinations for 2025, with Thailand, Japan, and the Nordic countries seeing a surge in bookings, according to data from TTC Tour Brands.

TTC Tour Brands, including Trafalgar, Brendan Vacations, Costsaver, Contiki, Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold, announced its trending destinations for Canadian travellers heading into 2025 based on recent consumer booking behaviour compared to 2023.

Asia remains a standout favourite, with Thailand and Japan leading the charge.

TTC says Thailand has surged following its selection as the filming location for HBO’s third season of White Lotus, to premiere in early 2025.

Costsaver’s Essential Thailand bookings have doubled, while Contiki’s Thai Island Hopper West has experienced a 60% increase.

Trafalgar’s Splendours of Japan with Hiroshima saw a 150% jump in bookings.

Europe remains a favourite following the 2024 Paris Olympics. Popular itineraries, such as Trafalgar’s Treasures of France and Insight Vacations’ Grand Italy and Sicily, have seen bookings double, while Contiki’s European Highlights itinerary, covering Rome, Venice, and Paris, is up 66%.

Canadian travellers are also venturing off the beaten path, favouring natural serenity over bustling cities. Insight Vacations’ Country Roads of France has seen a 100% increase in bookings, and the Country Roads of Scandinavia trip is trending up 150%, driven by the region’s reputation for happiness and well-being.

“As we look ahead to 2025, it’s clear that Canadian travellers are captivated by both iconic destinations and less-travelled gems,” says Melissa DaSilva, interim CEO of TTC Tour Brands.

“From the timeless allure of cultural hubs like Italy, France, and Japan to the scenic tranquillity of less explored regions of the English countryside and Scandinavia, our booking trends highlight travellers' growing desire for both immersive experiences and natural serenity. By anticipating these preferences and pioneering experiences that align with these trends, our TTC Tour Brands portfolio offers Canadian travel advisors an assured way to turn their client’s dreams into reality’’
