The Club Med in Punta Cana suffered “significant damage” in an early-morning fire on 12SEP.

DominicanToday.com said flames quickly spread across the complex, impacting several areas including the reception, main restaurant, and pool bar. Tourists staying at the club were safely evacuated and are currently housed in nearby hotels.
Club Med issued the following statement after the fire:
In the early morning of September 12th, 2024, a fire occurred in the resort center at Club Med Punta Cana. While the resort center sustained significant damage, no guest rooms were affected. Thanks to the swift and efficient response of our on-site team and local authorities, the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.
No serious injuries were reported however one guest sustained a minor injury during the evacuation process and is being provided with all the necessary medical attention.
The resort team is providing all necessary support and comfort to our staff and guests. Most onsite activities and the Hispaniola restaurant are open for guests’ enjoyment.
Regardless and in order to ensure guests have the highest level of service and comfort, Club Med has offered guests currently in the resort the opportunity to complete their vacation in our neighboring resort, Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda.
We have teams onsite currently evaluating the necessary repairs. Further updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
