Intrepid Invites Travellers to Cycle for a Cause: 100 people, 23 Countries

Intrepid, Buffalo Bicycle Ride

For thousands of women and children, a bike means the ability to ride to school, hospital, or a job that would otherwise be out of reach or a day's walk.

Intrepid Travel is rallying the industry to participate in the 2024 Buffalo Bicycle Ride, which will raise money for World Bicycle Relief.

A global charity fundraiser that puts remarkably cost-effective, specially designed rugged bikes in low-income, rural communities. The Buffalo bikes, as they are called, are built to serve the needs of people who travel long distances over rugged terrain with heavy cargo but can also be repaired simply, even in remote areas. And the best part?

Each one only costs USD $215.

EVENT INFO:

  •  Sunday, 02JUN: 98 participants among 23 global teams will be doing this fundraising ride. Intrepid teams specifically, we have 10 teams registered across 7 different countries!
  • Fundraising: We are just AU$5000 [$4500 CAD] off our global fundraising goal. So far over AU$45,200 [40,900 CAD) has been raised.

 Register to ride here.

"You don’t have to make it into a Tour de France event; something as simple as $1 per 1 km would be amazing," Intrepid said in a statement.

Intrepid covers 100% of the administrative costs, so every dollar donated to World Bicycle Relief will go directly to changing people’s lives.

Unique/ Global Routes: We have Intrepid teams riding through the streets and parks of Valencia in Spain, Central London in the UK, Toronto, and Karura Forest Reserve in Kenya. As for unique routes, we have our “Roadies 130” (run by Chris Grabyn) team, who are doing an advanced 130KM route in the Macedon Ranges.

See details, including the map and routing, here.

Win a trip: When participants raise CAD $215, they enter the draw to win an Intrepid Cycling tour valued at up to $3500 AUD [$3100 CAD].
