Transat Survey Finds Link Between Mental Health and Travel

In honour of Mental Health Awareness Month, Transat has released findings with Maru/Blue that provide an outlook on how travel impacts Canadian’s mental health.

The survey of more than 1,500 Canadians revealed that more than 4 in 5 people (82%) agree that travelling improves their mental health. In fact, 77% say booking a trip increases their happiness, and 74% say that travelling makes them feel more connected to themselves and the world.

Some other interesting findings among Canadians include:

  • Gen Z overwhelmingly agree (90%) that travel improves their mental health more than any other generation, followed by Boomers.

  • Ontario and British Columbia are the most likely provinces to agree (84% each) that travel improves their mental health.

  • 85% of people who agree travelling improves their mental health prefer to plan travel as early as possible.

  • Gen Z is the planning generation, and almost nine out of 10 agree that they prefer to plan travel as early as possible.

  • One in six Canadians prefers to book a vacation package as it’s less stressful. 70% of Gen Z agree with this statement, the most of any generation. Also, Quebec is the most likely province to agree with this statement at 67%.

  • 95% of people who travel south annually agree that travelling improves their mental health.

In light of these findings, Transat is encouraging Canadians to book South vacations early this year. Booking travel early can benefit one’s mental health and wallet.

Until June 28, Transat’s “Book early, get plenty” promo offers additional perks for travellers:

  • Up to 40% off per package;

  • Price Drop Guarantee up to $200 per adult;

  • Reduced deposit of $100 per person;

  • Future Travel Credit of $50 per adult;

  • 25% off Option Flex Standard.

Plus, Lambert offers 35% off to the first 5,000 reservations. This is the perfect opportunity to get the travel bag they have always wanted.

The promo applies to new individual bookings of Transat South packages made by June 28, 2024, for travel between September 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025. Terms and conditions apply.
