How long have you been in the business? Since I started in 1970 as a receptionist in hot pants at Kerrisdale Travel!
What are you looking forward to at ACTA? Getting in touch with our 2,600 members.
What, apart from this job, was your favourite one? Working in the hotel business – as a receptionist in Inverness, Scotland.
If you could have any job in the industry, what would it be? I’d like to own a small, very profitable high end boutique hotel.
What’s your biggest extravagance? Buying paintings.
What do people not know about you? I can be quite shy in public forums.
Do you have any hobbies or interests? I volunteer with Dress for Success which helps disadvantaged women. And I’m looking forward to working with Rosalind Prober (rprober@beyondborders.org) on ACTA’s new joint initiative for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism.
What was your favourite all-time movie? I loved 101 Dalmations when I was a child – to the point of naming my dog Perdita after the mum in the movie.
What will be the biggest challenge for the industry in the next 12 months? Margins and human resources.
If you could sit next to anyone on a long haul flight, who would it be? Russell Crowe!
If you could change one thing at ACTA, what would it be? I would like to enhance the value ACTA provides its members.
