Princess Cruises has revealed the name of its second Sphere Class cruise ship – Star Princess, which will sail an inaugural season of Mediterranean voyages when it debuts in AUG 2025.
Star Princess debuts 04AUG 2025, sailing a nine-day Inaugural Italy & Greece roundtrip voyage from Rome (Civitavecchia), featuring the destinations of Corfu, Kotor, Mykonos, Santorini and Naples (for Capri and Pompeii), followed by a variety of 9- and 10-day cruises sailing from Rome, Athens or Trieste (Venice).
Star Princess cruises go on sale with the larger Europe 2025 program release on 01JUN 2023.
Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, Star Princess joins Sun Princess as the largest ships ever built for Princess, with a capacity of 4,300 guests.
While 20 per cent larger than any of the line's existing ships, Princess Cruises says the new ship's design retains a level of familiarity with the rest of its vessels, with a number of new spaces such as:
- The Dome, an entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini;
- a Piazza featuring a glass sphere;
- the Princess Arena, a configurable main theater that allows Princess to produce a variety of entertainment concepts; and
- a dining room positioned aft of the ship to deliver wake views.
According to the cruise line, Star Princess will also offer a number of features with an array of new food and beverage concepts; an expanded casino; a two-story Lotus Spa; and entertainment headlined by Cirque Éloize. As previously reported by Open Jaw, Cirque Éloize will also headline entertainment on Sun Princess, which debuts in 2024.
Accommodation options of staterooms and suites include the new Reserve and Signature Collections.
Additionally, the new ship will be the second in the Princess fleet to be powered by LNG fuel technology, with additional sustainability features.
The cruise line says further details on Star Princess, including dining, entertainment, onboard amenities and future itineraries will be shared in the months leading up to its debut.
