The fifth ship in Celebrity's Edge Series will include technology for alternative fuel use. The engines will have the capability to use three fuel sources including methanol, which will lower the ship's carbon footprint and reduce local emissions like sulphur and nitrogen oxides. The announcement comes as the cruise industry looks to reduce its carbon emissions ahead of new IMO rules that will require cruise operators to lower their carbon output.
