Pivot Airlines Crew: RCMP Aware of Possible Contraband Before Bust in DR

CTV’s W5 has discovered that Canada’s RCMP was already investigating at least two of the passengers on the Pivot Airlines flight that had 200 kilos of contraband seized in the DR in 2022. According to the report, both pax apparently had “extensive” ties to drug dealing in Alberta and the RCMP had already intercepted and searched one flight from the DR two months prior to the DR seizure and arrests of all on board.

That has the crew members - who reported the contraband to authorities, but who were nonetheless arrested and detained in the DR for months - demanding answers.

“I want to know why [Canadian authorities] let us stay there for eight months,” said Pivot Airlines pilot Rob DiVenanzo. “I want to know from law enforcement, what did you know? Because if you can put an international airline crew's lives in danger, you're going to do that to any member of society… We could have been killed in jail.”
