Air Canada Cashes in on Cargo Success

Lucie Guillemette, Air Canada’s Executive VP and CCO, spoke with Open Jaw’s Nina Slawek about pax aircraft conversions to cargo at the start of the pandemic. The resulting record cargo revenues of CA1.5 billion in 2021 led to the decision by the carrier to invest in eight dedicated cargo aircraft.

While passenger flights remain Air Canada’s core business and the top source of revenue, cargo is gaining in importance and increasing its share of revenues. Air Canada aims to build an eight-strong, dedicated Boeing 767-300ER freighter fleet, with three of the converted Boeings due to enter service this year.
