Hyatt is set to open Hotel La Compañía in the heart of Panama City, Panama in spring 2022 as part of its Unbound Collection.
As reported by Caribbean Journal, the new property will be located in the Casco Antigua neighbourhood, also known as Casco Viejo or "Old Quarter" in English, of the city, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The property will hold 88 rooms and suites set in a 17th century building that was once a Jesuit convent and has since been "delicately restored" by a team of designers and architects to create what Hyatt calls a "living museum where the history of Panama will be showcased through a bold and contemporary design concept." Guests can choose from a room in the French Colonial wing, built by Jesuit priests in 1739; the Spanish Colonial wing, dating back to 1688; or the American Beaux-Arts wing, which was once a high-end department store constructed in 1905.
Other amenities at Hotel La Compañía include five dining concepts, including an all-day eatery, a bistro and coffee bar; an Italian restaurant and a steakhouse with an underground wine cellar. The property will also hold a spa with four treatment rooms as well as a rooftop sky deck with a bar and and infinity pool with views of the city and the Pacific Ocean.
